Festive holiday celebrations have come a long way from traditional maple turkey, stovetop stuffing and table wine. People take chances with their holiday décor, menu and drink selection. Influences come from gourmet chefs and decorating shows. This year, take a note from the experts including Dvira Ovadia winner of Debbie Travis's From the Ground Up.

The Ontario Craft Brewers worked with Dvira to provide beer drinkers with insight on trends for this season's colour palates and patterns, and advice on how to add beer to your holiday table. Find out her tips and trend forecasts for this season:

Bold Colors: Traditional green and red are out, royal blue, aqua, purple and playful palates of yellow-hued green like chartreuse, apple green and lime are in. As complements rich chocolate browns and metallic such as gold, bronze, copper and even pewter or platinum will give annual traditions a modern feel.

Sassy Prints and patterns such as scrolls, fleurs-de-lis, and damasks, paisley prints, lace, and swirls on table cloths, napkins, backdrops and throw pillows bring in a dramatic and chic effect to the traditional and dated looks.

Feathers are the new fur: From ostrich, to peacock, pheasant and plumes -exotic feathers are the latest trend, they can be seen on the runways of Milan or at your local home décor store. In lieu of real feathers, use images and prints on fabrics, tablecloths, napkins and throw pillows, they all make a playful statement.

Decorating with Fruit: We're seeing fruit everywhere this season, from wall paper prints to floral arrangements and even as an ingredient in beer. This year breweries across the province have experimented with fruit and spices to add new flavours to their beer. Take a hot tip from the brewers and integrate seasonal fruit such as apples, pears, limes and pomegranates to bring out vivid tones and gain that fresh zest that can later be snacked on! To create a fun theme for your dinner party- compliment this fresh table décor with the matching Seasonal beer selection from the Ontario Craft Brewers.

Bringing Nature indoors: Use images, prints, ornaments or objects in the shape of birds, dragonflies, butterflies, ladybugs and other pretty animals.

Revive your tableware: By adding height, texture and vibrant colours with chargers, bowls, a new set of stemware, or decorative dishes and vases. Try different shapes, colours and sizes of traditional tableware. Even just one playful item will transform to your tired china.

Add an original twist to an old favorite: Use a fun variety of glassware, decanters, and dispensers to pour and serve Ontario Craft Beer at your Holiday dinner party. Craft beer has a new found stylish audience and is a great way to flavour up the traditional dinner party. Break free of the pint glass and beer mug and see how glassware reserved for wine and liquors can play up the colours and aromas of these great Ontario Craft Beers.

Mirror and Glamour: Elements of sparkle and frost have always been a part of holiday decorating, this year glam it up with mirrors, shine, glass ornaments, mosaic disco balls, or other like items. In Germany we've seen examples of beer being served in small sized glasses on trays made from logs and driftwood. To dress it up the OCB recommends using a silver or mirrored tray to serve your craft beer. Make it a tasting party by placing a variety of beer styles on personalized trays - see if your guests can guess the different styles!

Twist it up: Whether it's a Christmas tree or ornaments, be bold and look at ways to introduce different sizes and shapes. Release your inner diva and liven up your holiday decorating by adding personal creative touches and making use of some of the hot trends of the season. Substitute a beer goblet with an oversized wine glass or oddly shaped burgundy to serve your winter seasonal beers or create a conversation piece that will have your friends and family raving by using a decanter to serve your Craft Beer. Challenge your guests' palates by introducing them to new beer choices this Holiday season - with over 120 different Craft Beers to choose from, the OCB is sure to have a beer to spice up your favourite holiday recipe and impress even the most discerning dinner guest.

Enjoy Yourself: The bottom line - have fun with what you do and let your creative senses run loose. In decorating nothing is ever wrong if you love it.
