Highlander Brew Co

Highlander Brew Co. is located in South River, Ontario, in the Almaguin Highlands from which Highlander takes its name. The brewery is on the Northern edge of Algonquin Park. South River is easily accessible off Highway 11 at exit 282.

Starting in 2012 Highlander operated as a pilot plant to develop recipes, research other breweries in USA and Canada and establish a business model. In 2014 Highlander concluded an agreement with the Village of South River to build a new brewery that would contribute economically, socially and culturally to the rejuvenation of the village.
The main building was completed in 2016 the brewery hosts numerous musical, theatrical and educational events as well as providing employment for the area.

Highlander offers six main beers- Scottish Ale, Blacksmith Smoked Porter, Lion Grass Ale, Rye Road Ale, Happy Landing Ale, and Buckshot Lager.

Currently, Highlander beers can be purchased in well over a hundred LCBO stores and grocery stores across ontario.
Highlander offers all its products on line with delivery anywhere in Ontario without a delivery charge.

Happy Landing Diner & Gas Station was a staple in the South River and the Almaguin region for over 50 years. With the brewery now in this location, Happy Landing Ale pays homage to this landmark with an English golden ale orange rind and oatmeal to create a balanced well-crafted beer. Pairs well with: Light soups and salads, vegetarian dishes, Feta/goat cheese, sweet and fruity Asian dishes, citrus-flavored dishes, including dessert and salad dressings.

Rye Road Pale Ale
Rye Road Pale Ale
Named for both a local South River road and its main ingredient, Rye Road RPA refreshes with a taste light rye. Our Rye Road RPA is made with rye malt and flaked rye, giving it the typical characteristics of an RPA with Highlander's signature attention to detail thrown in. From the light taste to the smooth finish, this isn't like any RPA you've experienced yet. Pairs well with: Pumpkin pie, Thanksgiving turkey, and any traditional fall comfort food tastes great with Rye Road IPA. A nice, light beer to complement a heavy meal.

Try a new way into Algonquin park. Our brewery is on the road into the park . take highway 11 to South River . Follow ottawa street to 19 Howard street ( Bear Chair Factory). You are at the brewery. Continue on that road and you arrive at Algonquin or several nice lodges. Stop at the brewery and we will tell you more.- see website
