Mill Street's Joel Manning

Perhaps no microbrewery is a better showcase for the craft of brewing than Mill Street Brewery. With well over a dozen popular beers in their portfolio, a prime location in Toronto’s Distillery District, and a wall full of awards (including Canadian Brewery of the Year in 2007 and 2008) Mill Street has a superb reputation, and is at the top of its game. We talked to brewmaster Joel Manning about the company, and about craft beer in general.

Celebrating Real Ale! 1 Comment »

It’s that time of year again! The Victory Café in Toronto is celebrating local, traditional cask-conditioned ale. Starting at noon this coming Sunday, visitors can enjoy a selection of OCB brewed real ales at the Victory Summer Cask Ale Festival.

Beer samples will be offered by the half-pint measure, purchased with a beer ticket available at the festival. A selection of tasty food will also be available with the purchase of a food ticket.

Tickets can be purchased at the festival entrance. For more information, consult the Victory Café website.

See you there!

Darren Smith of Niagara's Best

The Niagara Region may be better know for its wine, but that’s where you’ll also find the Niagara’s Best Brewery. Some of you may not know that Niagara’s Best is currently in the process of moving to a new brew pub facility in Lundy’s Lane in Niagara Falls, Ontario. There they will continue to offer their two main award-winning flasgship brands, which exemplify the OCB’s small batch brewing philosophy. Join us as we reprise a chat we had with assistant brewer and marketing representative Darren Smith.
