Eight Healthy Reasons to Drink Beer No Comments »

Looking for a good reason to enjoy a craft beer? Check out this great article from Forbes on Eight Healthy Reasons to Drink Beer.

Heart Health

A vast number of studies show that moderate consumption of alcohol, including beer, may reduce the risk of heart disease–consistently the No. 1 cause of death in the United States. A 2006 study led by researchers at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and the Harvard School of Public Health found that, among men with healthy lifestyles, those who consumed moderate amounts of alcohol had a 40 to 60% reduced risk of heart attack compared with heart healthy men who abstained.

Cognitive Function

Is beer good for your brain? Research suggests the answer is yes. A 2006 report published in a journal of the American Heart Association showed that moderate drinking may be associated with better cognitive function in women. Likewise, a 2003 study in the Journal of the American Medical Association said that adults over 65 who consume between one and six alcoholic beverages each week have a lower risk of dementia than non-drinkers and heavier drinkers.

Staying Alive

A review of 50 studies has shown there’s an inverse association between moderate drinking and total mortality under all scenarios for middle-aged and older adults, according to a 2005 report from the United States Department of Agriculture. The lowest risk of death appears to occur when people consume one to two drinks per day, likely a result of the protective effects against coronary heart disease and stroke.

Cameron’s ‘Let’s Drink the Cask’ Night | Thursday March 27th 1 Comment »

Cameron’s Beer is better than mother’s milk

Hello friends,
Following last month’s infamous Cask 19 Plato, this month’s Cameron’s ‘Let’s Drink the Cask Night’ will be on Thursday March 27th, from 6:00 - 8:00pm

Cameron’s Cask Nights are a casual and intimate monthly event at the brewery. The guestlist only event is free of charge and mainly a chance for us to share a glass of our latest creation with our friends, supporters and our local community.

For those who have not been to the brewery before, this is a great chance to meet the folks behind the scenes and to tour our facility. As well, it’s a great time to pick up some brewery fresh Cameron’s beer.

We will be tapping the Cask at approximately 6:15pm.

Whole Foods Markets have graciously donated some delicious food for the event. The food will be available at 6pm.

Check out some Cask Night Video Clips on our Facebook Fan Page or on You Tube.
The event is capped at 60 people to keep it intimate and to ensure everyone gets a taste of the cask.

RSVP’s always come flooding in, so confirm your attendance as quickly as possible.

For any questions or to RSVP (if you haven’t already), email mike@cameronsbrewing.com
For more information or to get directions, visit this Cameron’s link.

Cameron’s Brewing is only a short jaunt from the Oakville GO Station, so feel free to make the trip that way as well.

Cameron’s Appreciation Party 2008 No Comments »

The glow of a party

Every year Cameron’s Brewing hosts an appreciation party at one of our Toronto licensee accounts. The party is intended to show some love to the owners and staff of Licensee’s (restaurants and bars) and LCBO’s that support our brewery.

Because most licensee and LCBO staff can’t truly enjoy St. Paddy’s Day because they’re working, we decided to hold the party on March 10th - one week before St. Paddy’s Day.

This year we were thrilled to have the party hosted by Tony Merante of Regal Heights Bistro, a St.Clair destination that not only offers some of the best edibles this city has to offer but also holds the title of being Toronto’s only restaurant with all 4 Cameron’s beers on tap.

We brought in a very unique band (see below). For the second chapter of the story and for more pictures, visit our blog.

Cameron’s ‘Let’s Drink the Cask’ Night - 4th Edition | Recap No Comments »

Cameron’s Brewing Company hosts a monthly Cask Night on the last Thursday of each month. It is a chance for us to experiment with some of our brews, hang out and chat with friends, loyal supporters and anyone who wants to be added to the guestlist.

Our latest Cask Night on Thursday February 28th. We issued a preliminary warning that this Cask was going to BIG. It was indeed. This month’s cask was Head Brewer Jason Britton’s creation which he named 19 Plato. The cask was created from an Auburn Ale base, with higher alcohol and dry hopped with a very unique blend of hop varietals. The end product was fantastic.

As in previous Cask Nights, Whole Foods Markets generously donated a selection of food created specifically as a pairing for the cask brew. The selection featured smoked wings (with a hint of vanilla) and giant meatballs in a delicious tomato based sauce. To say that those who attended enjoyed the food is an understatement.

Jason Ellsmere and Oakville Chamber President John Sawyer

Thank you to the 50+ attendee’s and thank you for helping us build this event.

Our next ‘Let’s Drink the Cask Night’ will be on Thursday March 27th

For more information on how to attend our Cask Nights, please email mike@cameronsbrewing.com. As well, join the Cameron’s Brewing Facebook Fan Page.

Cheers!

Mail your coaster to the brewery? | Cameron’s Coaster Campaign 8 Comments »

corporatelogo-very-small.jpgWell, the new Cameron’s coaster campaign is under way. Most pubs that carry Cameron’s ales and lagers have been shipped a few sleeves of our new coasters.

The new Cameron’s coaster may seem like a typical coaster, but it is uniquely different. We decided to fashion our coasters like a postcard allowing people to connect with the brewery in a unique way.

The back of the new coaster looks like a traditional postcard with the ‘Send to’ already addressed to the brewery. The idea is to use the coaster at the pub, fill out your return address on the back and mail it to Cameron’s. In return, we will send you one of our flashy new bottle openers.

As coasters come in, we will add them to the ‘Great Wall of Coasters’ at the brewery. Those who have mailed back a coaster and then come to the brewery to find it, will earn themselves a discount on swag, a ticket for a Cameron’s event or something totally random, but cool.

We are striving to create a culture around a simple ol’ coaster. We will also send out brewery updates, first access to Cameron’s events and as a grand prize, we will email one person this summer to say, “We’re coming to your house with beer, food and music.”

Our coaster campaign officially kicked off February 1 st with coasters starting to arrive in pubs and restaurants the week of Feb 4th. As of this morning, the ‘Wall’ is already a considerable size.

For more information on what establishments carry Cameron’s, kindly email info@CameronsBrewing.com or call 905.849.8282 or visit our website.

Cheers and we’re keeping an eye out for your coaster…

Cameron’s Jolly Dodgers at The Budd Cup 2 Comments »

Jolly Dodgers

The Budd Cup is an annual charity Dodgeball Tournament held in Toronto.

The event entails somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 teams or 150 people battling it out on the Dodgeball court while raising money for charity.

This year the Budd Cup was raising money for The Canadian Music Therapy Trust Fund - a bold, non-profit initiative designed to integrate, educate, celebrate and promote all facets of music therapy in this country.

Not only was Cameron’s the official beer sponsor for the event, but we also fielded a 14 person squad - The Cameron’s ‘Jolly Dodgers‘. Although we lost our first game to the defending champions (Mr. Dodgers Neighborhood), we were able to draw Cops and Dodgers in the second game and managed to squeak out a win over the Dodgebots in our third game.

All in all, it was a great event for a great cause.

For the rest of the pictures and more Cameron’s event info, visit the Cameron’s Brewing Facebook Page.

More on The Canadian Music Therapy Trust Fund - Since 1994, with the help of the Canadian music industry, the Trust Fund has been able to distribute over $2 million to almost 290 projects from coast to coast. These projects range from hospices for terminally ill persons with cancer or HIV/AIDS, centres for the aged, schools for children who are autistic, physically or mentally challenged and programs for street kids.
