Best Places in Ontario to Enjoy Beer March 26th, 2008
There was an article on Canoe outlining the best eight places in the world to enjoy a beer. Included on the list was Kitchener/Waterloo’s Oktoberfest.
Whether it’s a pub, concert venue, sporting event or your backyard, we would love to know where your favorite places in Ontario are to enjoy a beer. Let us know by leaving a comment - click on the comment link above.

I’ll start this off by saying that some of my favourite places would need to be the Cameron House or Allens in Toronto.
But my all time favourite would need to be sitting on a cottage dock (really any cottage dock will do).

Ah, the Cameron House. A fine place indeed.
I will add a couple..
Rebel House on Yonge Street - great patio in the summer (and great food).
Looking to kill an afternoon..Sneaky Dee’s on Queen is a great place to ‘people watch’.
And heading far East…Steve what’s the name of your local in the Kleek? The place that throws the town’s wildest Halloween party?

I have to put a plug in for the Woolwich Arms (Wooly!) in Guelph - whether it’s a cold evening by the fireplace or an awesome day on the patio under the trees, this is one of the finest selections of local brew talent West of the GTA. But when in T.O., The Victory Cafe is my Wooly equivalent, and I’ve only got great things to say about C’est What.

For pubs it would be The Feather’s Pub in the beaches (sorry Cameron’s - your beers aren’t there).
C’est What is a great place to grab a pint of Ontario Craft Brew, the Rhino, Rebel House, Volo and The Bow and Arrow.
A beer on the dock in Haliburton is amazing, and a good OCB’s beer after a ball game, on a cool summer’s night is superb.
But sometimes, drinking a new beer in the comforts of your home with close friends and family is utopia.

Mike - That would be the Blueberry Hill Cafe in Vankleek Hill. and what a Halloween partay!
gotta agree with you on Sneaky’s. Spent a large part of my life in that bar. Nachos and Dry Gulch.
I also recently went to the The Shepherd’s Crook Pub in Elora On. and it won’t be my last time there.

Blueberry Hill…the mecca of good times.
Troy..Feather’s Pub is a great spot..we’ll have to work on them.
I’ll have to check out the Wooly - cheers Daver.

I have to throw in a vote for the cottage also.
My second would have to be outside the Beau’s van in a dark alley.
My third would be, anywhere. Come on it’s beer it makes everywhere great.

My favorite drinking spots, so far, are in the National Capital region. I do enjoy the pub fare and the imported beers at the Irish Village in the byward market. Also in the market that serves Beau’s and Cameron’s Auburn Ale is the Highlander Inn. Another spot in the market that has awesome food and craft brews to boot is the Black Tomato. Some other great places to drink is at the Breweries. I’ve drank at the old Amsterdam brew pub while they were moving the brewery out of that location, Steamwhistle, and Mill Street breweries in Toronto. I’ve also visited Glenora Springs Brewery, now Barley Days Brewery. I’ve also paid a visit to Beau’s All-Natural Brewing in Vankleek Hill, as well as a couple of pints at the Blueberry Hill. The best beer I drank however was was a small keg of Beau’s at the lakefront apartment on Crotch Lake watching the sun set. There’s soemthing about fresh air and great beer that will never go away.

Here’s my thing… there’s no secret that the Dunbar’s LOVE their craft beer… fresher, taste better, unique (a VERY welcome switch from the @#! my husband is used to drinking up in the Laurentians of Quebec). We spend ’some’ time a couple of our local pubs (in Aurora) after hockey, golf, volleyball, etc…. and despite a lot of heavy selling.. have yet to convince the ‘locals’ to tap OCB beer! Imagine the frustration!!! We talked about moving to an ‘OCB friendly zone’ but with two kids, etc…. didn’t seem all that realistic (maybe a little ‘too far’ with our passion for great tasting beer!). So we’d love to see some listings at the Filly ‘N Firkin in Aurora OR at Jersey’s - both on Yonge Street!
Don’t worry, we’ll continue to enjoy on our patio, with friends, at the cottage, etc.!

I’ve seen 4 people mention either cottage, dock, or lake-front apartment. Is there a coincidence or is it just luck? Speaking of luck, how did the OCB in your fridge contest turn out? I can’t remember reading about a final conclusion to the fun contest.
