OCB Discovery Pack (No.1) November 23rd, 2007
Yes… you are about to be witness to a ’shameless’ Plug… but I’m so excited about the launch of our Discovery Pack (No.1) into 150 LCBO stores that I can’t help myself! After a couple of delays, the LCBO has confirmed that our Discovery Pack will be on shelf in 150 stores in the next 5 days! Yahooooo!
There’s been some talk about what’s included in the 6 beers featured in this our FIRST Discovery Pack (and we love to see the ‘banter’)… The reality is (though tough for us to imagine), there ARE some people out there who have yet to adventure into the wonderful world of Ontario Craft Brewers to try the high quality beers being brewed right here in Ontario! So (here’s the shameless plug part), the OCB developed this six pack to educate consumers about different styles of premium beer and help beer lovers discover the world of Craft Beer available in Ontario. It’s about discovery and having some fun!
So here’s the thing… for those of you who are already OCB experts (tried all 125+ brands have you?) we invite you to continue to enjoy our beer, and to share the ‘Discovery Pack’ with your friends over the holiday season. For those of you just ‘breaking’ into the wonderful world of Ontario Craft Beer… brace yourself.. grab an OCB Discovery Pack.. and experience what you’ve been missing!
Final Plug: visit the Ontario Craft Brewers web page, look at all the great (really easy) recipes that have been developed and enjoy some of the holiday ‘entertaining’ tips! We’d love to hear your feedback on what you think about the Discovery Pack too!
Cheers!

Great idea! Doesn’t matter to me what order items get selected as long as some porters and stouts are included.
How long will each selection be available?

Each selection is in store ‘on a limited time basis’ - once it sells though, it’s all goooooonnne! So a bit of a ‘get it while you can’ thing!
Enjoy!! … and thanks for the feedback regarding porters and stouts!

W00T! I just came back from Christmas shopping and picked me up a Discovery pack. It’s in the fridge chilling. I’m gonna report back on my thoughts of the beers.

I think the “Discovery Pack” is a great idea to get people in our “buck a beer” world to find out what real beer is supposed to taste like. I think it should be followed up with others, perhaps even more specialized, like an “OCB Lager Discovery Pack”, or an “OCB Full Flavoured Ales Discovery Pack”. Another idea, would be to distribute “regional” discovery packs outside the breweries home region. For example here in Cambridge, it’s next to impossible to find something from Scotch Irish Brewing, or Beau’s. I’ll assume as well that Ottawa LCBO’s don’t have any Taps, or Niagara’s Best Beer on the shelf either. I’m a great fan of OCB, and of the 98 brands listed under your “Discover Our Beer” section, I’ve tried 72 of them, and have personally visited 19 of the breweries, but people who will drive a 500km round trip on Saturday just to pick up a six pack, are few and far between, and things like the “Discovery Pack” will make it easier (and more economical) to continue the discovery. Thanks!

Hey Andrew
Remmember we are at the mercy of the LCBO. We would have loved to have had a vast assortment of our different style beers in a discovery pack, but hopefully this is the start of good thing to come.
Watch this space!

Aaaaaaaaamen sister! We hope to take all the great feedback we’re receiving from ‘beer lovers’ to build our long term plan!
Thanks for the input everyone!
Looking forward to seeing more as everyone goes out and buys the Discovery pack for their friends!

98 brands of OCB beer on the list, 98 brands of beer…Good job Andrew. Send me an email if Beau’s LugTread is on your “need-it” list.
Cheers!
