Canadian Brewing Awards - Take 1

Sweet, I get to make the first post about the 2007 Canadian Brewing Awards.

Another year of great times with some of the best people around.  Tonight was like the Oscars for us folks in the Canadian brewing scene and although the weather sucked, fun times were had by all.  Since it's a little after one in the morning I'm going to keep this short and let everyone else follow it up with how they did and give their $0.02.  We had a good showing tonight bringing home an award in the North American Lager and Cream Ale categories, congratulations to our brewers Jason Britton and Adam Ramanauskas for brewing great beers.  Congrats to all the brewers that won tonight especially the well represented OCB group.

I only managed to get a few pictures due to a technical issue (I forgot to recharge the battery) but check them out below.

Cheers

Congratulations Jason and to all the OCB guys & gals that are celebrating the results of a lot of hard work!

Mike Laba Says:

The CBA’s are always a great night…a chance to catch up with friends in the industry and to collectively celebrate great beer.

Congrats to all the winners and especially you fellow OCB’ers.

Cheers.

Troy Burtch Says:

Yes, congratulations Cameron’s. Well deserved win.

The CBA’s were very tough this year, as more and more Canadian breweries are getting involved. There were over 200 beers entered in over 21 categories.

It was a fun night and it was great seeing everyone together talking ’shop’. One of the highlights of the night goes out to George from F&M for his acceptance speech. It was a beauty.

Congratulations to Mill Street for winning five medals and being named Brewery of the Year. And to Great Lakes for taking home four medals. Other winners included Black Oak, Lakes of Muskoka, Walkerville, Brick, and Magnotta.

The CBA’s will continue to grow and the awards show will only go up from here.

Thanks to all those that attended.

Cheers
Troy

John Bowden Says:

I have no idea how Jason managed to post a comment at one in the morning…I was in no shape to post anything until now after last night. We definitely celebrated!

Great to see a whole bunch of familiar faces and meet some new ones too. Good to see this event is gaining steam, as breweries from coast to coast attended, including the fine folks at Phillips and Garrison.

We were honoured to take home a whopping four awards this year - so close to being brewery of the year! It’s great to be recognized for all the hard work and endless hours it takes to make some great beer and get it to market.

Congratulations to all the other OCB breweries who earned well-deserved medals.

The guys from Garrison were so kind to leave us with a case of Imperial Pale Ale bottles (beer of the year!). Can’t wait to pop open one of these!

Cheers,

John

Greg Clow Says:

Yay, I don’t look like too much of a knob in that picture!

Congrats to all of last night’s winners - it was a great night, with lots of well-deserving brews and brewers getting recognised.

And I’m in complete agreement with Garrison Imperial Pale Ale winning beer of the year. Pardon my French, but it’s a fucking amazing brew!
