OCB Discovery Pack #11 Tasting Notes

Cameron's Brewing — Cameron's Dark 266
Don't be afraid of the dark! Specialty imported dark malts from the UK, Germany and the US result in a chestnut coloured lager with a wonderful lacy head. The dark lager has the deliciousness of a North American Lager with the complexity of a dark ale ... watch for hints of chocolate, coffee and raisins. Winner of Gold Medals at the 2010 Ontario and Canadian Brewing Awards. (LCBO# 679837).

Black Creek Historic Brewery's — Black Creek Pale Ale
Pale Ale uses predominantly pale or lightly-roasted malts. This beer has a full, airy taste with more hops than darker ales. Black Creek Pale Ale is a great choice with salads or spicy foods, or as a cool refreshment in warm weather. (LCBO# 238766)

F&M Brewery — StoneHammer Pilsner
A classic Pilsner, brewed using 100% German Pilsner Malt, and Noble Saaz hops. A crisp clean refreshing full-bodied taste, with a distinctive dry finish. (LCBO# 689752)

Nickel Brook Brewing — Nickel Brook Premium Organic Lager
Brewed using only 100% certified organic European Hops and Barleys puts this Lager in a class all its own. Polished copper in colour with a subtle medium body and spicy aroma. Naturally carbonated and aged a minimum of 4 weeks gives a rich mellow finish. (LCBO# 92338)

Railway City Brewing — Dead Elephant Ale
A full bodied golden Pale Ale which pours with a linen white medium density head leaving spider web lace on the glass. On the palate the flavour is sweet fruity malts up front (apricot, mango) with a bit of candy, and slight grassy notes which fall away to reveal a hint of biscuit with rather pleasant grapefruit and perfume undertones. This is a hop bomb, there is no doubt. To the nose there is a mild malt aroma which accentuates the robust floral bouquet which is derived from the hops. Medium full bodied ale with pleasant lingering hop finish. (LCBO# 272104)

Trafalgar Brewery — Paddy's Irish Red
Irish Red was created in the 1800's by master brewer George Henry Lett. Trafalgar has recreated the extraordinary nutty taste and unique amber colour with crystal malts and roasted barley. Tettnanger and Saaz hops round out the bouquet of this fine dark lager. Paddy's compliments such pub fare as stews, cheeses and meat pies. (LCBO# 149310)
